What drinks are provided at the aid stations? I assume water but do they also have Gator Aid or some other sports drink? I see that EnduroxR4 is a sponsor and they make a recovery drink. Will that be available post ride? |

Posted At 10:14:46 01/11/2004 What towns? ;-) Towns are few and far between out there. If there is a town, yes, people do and can stop, but you'll find mostly gas station food. You can all day and not see much of a town. The BTC caterers do offer lunches (for a price)and they typically set up at the second or third aid station of the day. However, please note that most people leave very early in the AM and most folks are done by 12-1 PM (on the shorter mile days)and you can always get lunch in the stopover towns. Personal opinion.... this is one of very very few areas where the BTC could look into alternatives. The RTR has a host of venders trailing them and each aid station has not only the RTR food, but a selection of venders to choose from. I still remember the church lady brownies at the top of Rabbit Ears a few years ago and the Tuna/Avacado sandwich outside Grandby (and I usually hate tuna). |

Posted At 09:29:03 01/12/2004 In last years ride the only riders that saw the popovers were those that left early and rode fast as the number available were very limited. I only had the opportunity to get one because a volunteer saved one for me- but they were very good. Last year was my first year riding a multi-day ride as well as riding in the mountains and I was out of shape and did not always get an early start either so the so-called Bagels were gone also by the time I got there, there was some PB and jelly usually left over that you could put on fruit though. This was very frustrating as you can't live just on fruit all day even though the fruit was very good. I did not go with the lunch option and the one day I did purchase lunch, I was very disapointed, the best lunch was the one that was not provided by the caterer and that was the resturant at the Royal Gorge. Hopefully I will see some bagels this year and am undecided re: the lunch option, because of the many complaints with last years caterer. It would be nice if BTC took some advice from bike clubs that put on Centuries that are always well stocked with Bagels, Cookies, Muffins, Etc. in addition to fruit, and have enough available to all throughout the week instead of rationing it out as the stocks could always be replenished later in the week from the local Sam's Club.
